Is the new Outlook for Mac a stop-gap revision before the full revision of Mac Office next year? Or is this the final product of that and we'll see similar with the rest of Office?
I ask because thus far I am disappointed in the product. Outlook 2011 was certainly feeling it's age, and there was some hope/talk about bringing both version of Office up to the same parity. Instead. the "new" Outlook is simply 2011 with a fresh coat of paint. Thus far the only useful changes I've seen are the ability to access Online Archive (much needed, thanks!) and it seems to perform better. The UI is still the same unique & clumsy setup that 2011 had. It lacks any OS integration (for example, a My Day view widget for Notification Center). It lacks any ability to customize, lines per mail to display, ability to hide the bottom bright blue bar, etc.
I think there was some hope that Mac Office was getting a complete rebuild, but instead it looks like a very minor revision.
