Installed office 365 on mac, no programmes will open, office database error

Hi I tried installing office 365 on my mac yesterday. The install seemed to go fine, no errors or anything. I signed into my 365 subscription and tried to open powerpoint, I got an error ;



I clicked ok and the icon in my dock started bouncing like it was going to open, the menu items come up in the menu bar across the top (by the apple symbol) but the actual programme doesn't open. 
I tried rebuilding the database.

I tried opening each of the programmes in the office suite and they all do the same thing.

I then tried uninstalling office following these instructions :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768/en-us 

When I tried to reinstall the same thing happened except now along with the programmes not opening and the error message it is not saving my details from signing into my 365 subscription as well.
